It is a common misconception that pressure ulcers usually occur when people spend long periods of time in bed. In fact, most tissue damage is caused by sitting incorrectly for long periods of time on unsuitable chairs. It is therefore crucial that any person who is susceptible to pressure ulcers be provided with some form of pressure relieving cushion to place in a conventional chair.
